I've never worked with a freelance writer. How does it work?

Typically, we will meet by phone to discuss your needs and timeline. We offer this 30-45 minute consultation to first-time clients FREE.  Our agenda for this initial meeting includes a high-level discussion of your project needs and timeline. We also review your project goals, the top benefits that your product or service offers your customers, and anything else you’d like to cover.

We will e-mail you a FREE estimate by the close of the following business day.  Once we receive the green light to proceed (along with any required deposit), we create a project schedule so you can see, step by step, how the work will progress. To get started, contact us.

Do you write for other industries besides those listed on your website?

Absolutely. Because, writers have a natural curiosity, we can write about most anything. In fact, we recently completed assignments for the finance and insurance industries, too. All it takes is a love of research, a love for the written word, and a passion for incisive marketing. Lucky for you, we have all these things. Plus, copywriting employs specific tools and strategies that can be applied to any field.

Can you work with clients from afar?

Yes. With access to e-mail and other electronic tools like Skype and GoToMeeting.com, we have worked with clients as far away as Europe.

How quickly can you complete a job?

It entirely depends on the size of the project and, to be honest, how many projects we have cooking when you submit your job. As a general rule, small jobs like line cards and single-page letters can be delivered within 7-10 days. Larger jobs like websites and letter campaigns can take 3-4 weeks. To be sure we can mark your place in line, it’s best to contact us as soon as you know you might need our services.

What if I need a job completed, like, yesterday?

Our rush fee for jobs requested within 5 business days is 20% of our standard rate.

How much do you charge?

We provide first-time customers a complimentary 30-45 minute consultation for their first project. Thereafter, our fee depends entirely on the scope and nature of the project. What does your fee include?

Our fee includes one round of edits, assuming the client does not introduce new information or creative direction to the project during the editing phase.

How quickly can I get an estimate?

Once we define the scope of your project with you by phone, we will email you an estimate by close-of-business on the next business day.

Do you require a signed contract?

Yes. Your signed estimate serves as a contract that ensures we are both committed to and agree to the scope and payment arrangements of your project. Once we receive the signed estimate, by fax or scanned pdf, we put your project in line for completion.

What if I have to cancel a job?

If our services are retained for some future date or project, and that date or project is subsequently cancelled, a kill fee may apply as follows: 14 days-2 days prior to project due date: 50% of project estimate; within 24 hours prior to project due date: 100% of estimate. We impose these fees because a cancelled job represents a loss of billable hours that we had put aside specifically for your project.

Can you also design brochures, catalogs, and websites?

Yes. We work with some very talented print and web designers who will create a design for you from scratch, or adapt them from existing materials (print to web or web to print, for instance). Of course, when we design a job for you, the project will take longer. We can also arrange printing.

How do I pay you?

In most cases, we require a 50% deposit on a job before we begin, with the balance due within 14 days after job completion. Our preferred method of payment is by check or money order.
